Guidelines

Thank you for your interest in The HAND Foundation. The HAND Foundation supports programs that are aligned with its core mission areas and strategies, focusing in-depth on a few initiatives.

We accept unsolicited inquiries, but the majority of our grants are made to organizations with which we have a pre-existing relationship and extensive engagement.

HAND makes grants only to nonprofit charitable organizations classified as 501(c)(3) public charities by the Internal Revenue Service.

In addition, HAND does not fund:
  1. Political and politically charged initiatives;
  2. Start-ups at idea level;
  3. Travel expenses;
  4. Individuals.
All potential applicants are asked to submit a short application, which is used for initial screening to ensure that they meet the minimum requirements of HAND’s grant process. This includes being an organization with current 501(c)(3) public charity status, and alignment with The HAND Foundation mission and strategies. Please review our list of grantees for reference to our typical levels of funding, our larger grants are only made to organizations with which we have a pre-existing relationship and extensive engagement. If a short application is approved, the organization may be requested to submit additional documentation.

We review submissions quarterly on the dates detailed below. At this time we are not accepting applications. The submission window will be re-opened August 2015. If you have additional inquiries, please email info@thehandfoundation.org.
