Alibaba Philanthropy Summit Reaches India

9/2/2018

This week, the Alibaba Foundation and online media platform, UCWeb, is simultaneously hosting the XIN Philanthropy Conference in Hangzhou and Delhi. The event first began in China in 2016, with an emphasis on public involvement. Now, it has expanded its reach to India and will address pressing topics like education, child protection, and women's empowerment.

Alibaba Foundation is the charitable arm of China's e-commerce phenomenon, Alibaba Group. Executive chairman, Jack Ma, has been outspoken not only about the individual's capacity to evoke change but their obligation to do so. It's therefore fitting that this year's keynote will be centered around "Everyone participates for a better future" and will host leaders in public policy, global welfare, business, and science.

UCWeb is a subsidiary of Alibaba Group and recently launched the first women-only news channel in India. Like the rest of the world, India and China face escalating social and environmental crises. This week-long event is indicative of the rapid strides both countries have taken to build their philanthropic impact. LEARN MORE
