HAND Foundation Scholars: JEAN D'AMOUR MUTONI, ACTS OF GRATITUDE

Jean D'Amour Mutoni is the CEO and co-founder of Acts of Gratitude, an NGO in Rwanda that promotes community service and 'paying it forward.' Acts of Gratitude members make small monthly contributions to fund human service programs for vulnerable people in Rwanda. When Jean D'Amouri started with AEC, Acts of Gratitude had 150 members. Today, they have grown significantly and continue to inspire more youth to get involved. Here are several of the highlights that these inspiring entrepreneurs have achieved over the past two years:

  • Grew to 300 members across Rwanda, each making small monthly contributions to expand the services of the organization
  • Fully funded secondary school scholarships for 20 people
  • Purchased 500 health insurance cards for vulnerable community members
  • Launched an entrepreneurship training center for youth entrepreneurs
  • Distributed more than 10,000 clothing articles to Burundian refugees
  • Jean D'Amour was awarded the Queen's Young Leaders Award for his work with Acts of Gratitude in Rwanda
