HAND Highlight: SIRUM

Using an innovative technology platform, SIRUM saves peoples' lives by allowing health facilities, manufacturers, wholesalers, and pharmacies to donate unused medicine rather than destroy it. Because SIRUM makes donation quick, easy, and free most organizations not only save lives with the medications but also save time and money over destruction which is often costly and time-consuming.

Their platform enables the closed, safe peer-to-peer redistribution of medications. Unlike traditional drug redistribution programs that rely on intermediaries, they connect donor facilities directly with recipient safety-net clinics. The idea stemmed from a project by a group of Stanford University students to curb waste and help uninsured patients.
