TUMML is a business accelerator for "urban impact start-ups". Co-founded by Clara Brenner and Julie Lein, TUMML supports start-ups that aim to tackle civic problems, while turning a profit along the way. Their firm provides funding, mentoring, and practical guidance for start-ups that address challenges from education to transportation to boosting local small business. One of these businesses is The Town Kitchen, a food company that employs and empowers low-income youth to produce locally-sourced, boxed lunches. Their clients include Indiegogo and Gap. Neighborly is a community investment marketplace helping people improve their cities and invest in the issues they care about. Individual and professional investors alike can invest in core city needs from infrastructure to schools and earn interest on their loans.
