Upcoming World Affairs Awards Dinner

The World Affairs Council is hosting its annual awards dinner on Monday, May 21st at the San Francisco Four Seasons Hotel. The nonpartisan forum is known for connecting the public with foreign policy experts to discuss pressing international issues. This year's dinner will honor foreigners who have made a significant impact on America's culture and economy. Attendees will include Bay Area influencers from business, philanthropy, and civil society.

This year's honorees are:

  • Aicha Evans: Ms. Evans is Intel's Senior VP and Chief Strategy Officer. The Senegal-born executive, who was raised in Paris, is responsible for driving the company's long-term strategy and was previously GM of Communication and Devices.
  • Chong-Moon Lee: A native of South Korea, Mr. Lee successfully took his company, Diamond Multimedia Systems, to IPO and now runs venture capital and consulting success, AmBex Venture Partners.
  • Sanjay Poonen: Born in India, Mr. Poonen is the COO of VMWare, the fifth largest public software company. Prior, he was President and Corporate Officer of Platform Solutions and Mobile Division at SAP AG.
  • Sebastian Thrun: This German-born entrepreneur is the President and Co-founder of Udacity, a successful online education startup. Before that, he started Google[x] and led numerous Google teams, including self-driving cars and Google Glass.
