Ali Zuashkiani, engineer and professor at University of Toronto and Sharif University of Technology (Iran), has been selected as a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum.

In February, Taghi Amirani, award-winning Iranian-British filmmaker and former Senior TED Fellow, was recognized for his engagement with the TED community by being named the first ever TED Fellows Hero. Amirani is currently working on his first feature narrative film, Coup 53, about the CIA-staged coup in Iran in 1953.

Noosheen Hashemi, founder of HAND Foundation, honored women’s rights at a luncheon in San Francisco on International Women’s Day, March 8, 2013. Guests included domestic violence activist Esta Soler, California Attorney General Kamala Harris and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, who spoke passionately about important milestones for women, past and future.
